Garden 23 in Oxford Square

Some 12,000 sq. ft. of native flora surround this lovingly restored 1910 Craftsman home. The owners dub their aesthetic “California Apocalyptica: where the native plants emerge from the ruins of society.” In this gardeners’ garden, ingenious use of found objects and concrete rubble meld with a collection of rare California bulbs, unusual and showy annuals and perennials, vines, hedges, and a running creek with unique aquatic natives. The owner-designed garden, begun in 2008, inspired a trend for natives in their historic Oxford Square neighborhood.
