Garden Size: 3,200 square feet front and back
Started: 1995
Notable Features: This small, all-native front yard, revamped in 2011, features coast-friendly flora that thrive in dry shade and a rocky swale that captures roof runoff. In the larger back garden, redesigned in 2013, places for rest and birdwatching are bordered by natives that support pollinators. Look for lesser-known plants, such as silvery Wright’s buckwheat and San Clemente Island Buckwheat.
